Water Timeline

• March 2025, Town of Firestone recognized a discrepancy from the Contract signed in 1974 in the billing with   Central Weld County Water District (CWCWD) and open discussions with the CWCWD Board of Directors.
• June 4, 2025, CWCWD threatened to shut off water to the town due to non-payment.

• June 4, 2025, a temporary restraining order was filed by the Town of Firestone to prevent residents and   businesses from having water "shut off". 
• August 14, 2025 court ruled Firestone to pay bill and CWCWD will not turn off water.

• August 21, 2025 CWCWD Board of Directors voted to discontinue the 1974 Contract with Town of Firestone to provide water citing that they were unwilling to work with the current Town leadership or current Board of Trustees. The date they propose to discontinue the Contract August 21, 2028 unless another Contract can be negotiated. 

•December 2025-February 2025, Mayor Conyac and Trustee Morton have made repeated attempts to open contract discussions with the Board of CWCWD.   

•Recent communication indicates the CWCWD Board is willing to enter into a Contract discussion.
