Trustees Byrd and Morton’s votes on the Board of Trustees benefited the residents of Firestone and helped accomplish the following:

Public Safety

Community Safety Standards

• Approved residency restrictions for registered sex offenders near schools, parks, childcare centers, trails, pools,   libraries, and recreation centers
• Installed a radio frequency booster system to improve emergency communications at the St Vrain Water     Treatment Plant
• Firestone ranked No. 8 among the safest places to live in Colorado

 

Safer Streets and Neighborhoods

• Installed HAWK pedestrian crossing signals at Birch and Sable to improve student safety at Centennial       Elementary
• Implemented traffic calming measures around Centennial Elementary
• Removed and replaced 20 ADA compliant curb ramps and 9 concrete cross pans in Historic Firestone
• Adopted the 2025 Model Traffic Code for Colorado

 

Law Enforcement and Community Protection
• Enacted camping restrictions within the Municipal Code
• Adopted regulations for unmanned aircraft systems including drones
• Authorized operational assessment of the Police Department Records Unit

Water Security and Long Term Planning

Strengthening Our Water Portfolio

• Participated in full day water education and planning sessions in 2024 and 2025
• Approved the purchase of 38 and one ninth shares of ditch water to increase long term water supply
• Approved expansion design of the water treatment plant to 5.0 MGD capacity

 

Responsible Financial Stewardship

• Authorized the sale of 136 Native Water Credits generating approximately 10 million dollars in revenue
• Updated the Water Action Plan to evaluate 30 years of projected growth and supply needs
• Approved preparation of a Potable Water Master Plan

 

Transparency on CWCWD Rates

• Publicly presented impacts of Central Weld County Water District rate increases
• Clearly communicated that Firestone does not control CWCWD rate structures
• Maintained policy that water rate revenue does not fund unrelated debt or capital projects

Infrastructure and Transportation

Roads and Bridges

• Approved mill and overlay projects in Monarch Estates and Oak Meadows
• Advanced I 25 and Firestone Boulevard intersection improvements
• Secured 912,970 dollar CDOT grant for WCR 20 bridge replacement

• Approved 2025 street maintenance for Sable, Birch, Frontier, Colorado Boulevard, and Pine Cone
• Completed waterline and surface improvements in Historic Firestone
• Resurfaced the Mountain Shadows Bike Park and Pump Track
• Replaced playground equipment at Prairie Ridge Park

Technology and Connectivity

• Approved non exclusive master license agreement for fiber networks

• Adopted the Central Firestone District Plan of Development
• Enabled Tax Increment Financing to reinvest in infrastructure and amenities

• Approved Frontier Estates Preliminary Plat
• Approved Barefoot Lakes Filing 7e
• Approved reimbursement agreement for pedestrian bridge over St Vrain Creek
• Directed Private Activity Bond allocation to CHFA to support affordable housing
